Original music and lyrics composed by Dave DeVasto, performed by Standard Strings. Tall Tales is inspired by myths and legends in the surrounding Midwest region. From the legendary train robber, Jesse James to an abandoned silver mine near Stoneface in Saline County, Illinois, to a forgotten farm girl in Syracuse, Indiana, to an old tree marked with the names of lost loves in McHenry County, Illinois. Even the fiddle tunes are inspired by familiar locations - Apple River, which flows through Elizabeth, Illinois where Abraham Lincoln served as a soldier during the Black Hawk wars, and Starved Rock, named after the tragic end to a conflict between Ottawa and Peoria Native American tribes. The music draws from American bluegrass, folk, and jazz traditions. Perfect for a back porch gathering or a relaxing drive!
